Hello OilPainters,

After a suggestion by one of our members, I have placed a Works in Progress folder in the group gallery.

Also, I'd like to know how I can assist in making this group a better. As I'm sure all of you know, I am not active with this group, however I do this so the OilPainters group can become a place the community wants it to be, and not what I think an oilpainters group should be.

I have made the folders as broad ranged as possible so anyone can submit their oil paintings here. Is there another group folder that you would like to see? Is there some added feature that would be beneficial to the group as a whole?

My original hope was that the OilPainters group would be a place for oil painters to be able to find one another and talk to each other, which really means the group page would be only a jumping board for conversations and discussion. But I believe it is also important to note that oil paintings generate a much different form of communication than other media. (but that is a tangent for another day.)

So let me know if you can think of anything that can better the community here. If there is a great enough interest and enough people who would be willing to use the tools, I might start a donation pole for a supergroup, however that may or may not be necessary.

It would be great if all OilPainters here were able to start a discussion or get critiques about their artwork, (I would love to see this happen.) But like with most things, you have to give to get. Critique a few other Oil Painters artworks. Get the ball rolling with conversation. We do not have a forum for this page, but perhaps we can treat the comments in a journal as one? What do you think?

Also! If you know of any national/international contests for oil paintings, please let me know and I'll post them here. For that matter, if you know of any information or announcements that you believe will affect the oil painting community, let me know and I will share them here.
